Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Deadly Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on Monday, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his team members.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
Joshua had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.
Remembering the Victims
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two dear friends.”
The news of his discharge comes as the sports world had expressed sympathy for the star in the following the devastating accident.
