Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in contact with the league office.

The organization did not mention Rice by name in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, shared a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, Rice concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
