Expedition 33 Sweeps at the 2025 Golden Joystick Ceremony
The forty-third yearly Golden Joystick Awards took place this past week, and with a remarkable display, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 emerged as the most decorated winner. This breakout role-playing game by Sandfall Interactive won the esteemed Ultimate Game of the Year award, along with honors for Outstanding Narrative and Excellence in Visuals.
Complementing the developer's triumph, the talented performers also were honored with individual awards. Jennifer English won Top Lead Actor for her portrayal as Maelle, while Ben Starr won Best Supporting Actor for his role as Verso. Moreover, Sandfall Interactive the studio was named Top Studio. Altogether, Clair Obscur and its creative team won 7 awards throughout the ceremony.
Additional notable winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which won Top Sound Design and Best Console Game, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, honored with Top Self-Published Indie and PC Game of the Year. Worth mentioning, the bulk of Golden Joystick Awards are chosen by the gamers, with only four awards—Critics’ Choice, Rising Star, Hall of Fame inductee, and Streamer Selection—determined by critics.
