The Streaming Platform is Producing a Far Cry TV Show from the Creators of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.
The newest Far Cry instalment that gamers explored was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and was released during October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is known for celebrating action and insanity with similar glee, all while presenting engaging, socially charged stories. It’s no surprise that FX's new order for a Far Cry limited-run show pulled in two visionaries whose work have exemplified all of those qualities.
About the Series
Based on Ubisoft's successful video game property, the short-run anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The anthology will also mirror the video games' format by having a different setting and cast of characters in each season.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as showrunners on the series through their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed outstanding collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is fresh, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to appreciate our collaborators at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also feature in the show, but at the time of writing, we do not know what role that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for more episodes, with FX and Disney finalizing a new overall deal with the producer.
“Being able to collaborate together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly generous, placing faith in us with one of the most renowned video-game universes ever created. And through it all, my FX team continues to lift me up with their steady belief and assistance.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology program. Each game is a interpretation of a theme, the same way every run of Fargo is a variation on a theme,” explained Hawley. “To develop a big action show that can change from year to year, while always exploring the core of humanity through this multifaceted and chaotic lens, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to collaborate with Rob and present our mutual irreverent, ambitious approach to the television.”
A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
