Trump Organization Attempted to Hire Nearly 200 Workers on Work Permits in 2025

The former president’s corporate entity increased its recruitment of foreign workers on short-term work permits this period, even as his administration was placing obstacles for other businesses wanting to do the identical, an analysis published Thursday stated.

Based on information from the federal labor department, the Trump Organization aimed to bring in at least 184 overseas employees in 2025 for temporary positions at the US president’s Florida property, two golf clubs and his Virginia winery.

The number of requests for H-2A and H-2B visas covering staff including servers, office assistants, housekeepers, culinary employees and farm workers was the highest ever submitted by the company, and increased from 121 in the previous term, when Trump’s first term ended.

It was also the fifth instance in a decade that the former president had attempted to hire over a hundred overseas workers for seasonal jobs at Mar-a-Lago, based on available data.

The disclosure comes amid a crackdown on legal immigration by his administration that has involved the implementation of a $100,000 fee on H1-B visas; extra scrutiny of the actions of the millions of people who possess US visas; and restrictive new rules for foreign students and journalists.

In total, the Trump Organization sought to hire over 560 overseas workers over the five years the former president has been in the White House, from his first term and during 2025.

Notably, Trump was questioned by some in the GOP this period for comments justifying the need for overseas employees when a company was unable to find people with “particular skills” to fill particular roles.

“You cannot just say a country is coming in, going to invest $10bn to construct a facility, and going to recruit individuals off an jobless roster who haven’t worked in five years, and they’re going to start making their missiles. It doesn’t work that well,” he told a interviewer after she suggested that foreign workers lower the pay of American employees.

The administration declined a inquiry for response, and the Trump Organization did not immediately respond to an request for information.
